Wes Rollo death – dead, obituary: Wes Rollo accident happened May 3, 2020 in a single-vehicle crash south of Natchitoches Sunday, at approximately 10:02 p.m.
Wes Rollo, the only child of Jeff and Sonya Rollo, tragically passed May 6, 2020. He was St. Jude’s childhood leukemia survivor, freshman recipient of the Dylan Kyle Poche Memorial Fishing Scholarship at Northwestern State University, inspiration to all who knew or knew of him and his story; his impact far exceeds his years.
His life, through Team Wes as he battled and beat cancer, drew our community together like nothing else I’ve witnessed in my fifty plus years as a part of it. Then, as a truly world class bass fisherman, he used that platform to influence and inspire countless others not just here, but literally across the country. I can think of but a very few that served so admirably as an ambassador for Natchitoches, and none that managed to do so as well or as thoroughly as he did in the little time he was afforded.
He had a connection with Finley and Max unique to those with the experience they shared. He helped Finley through his friendship and advice more, I feel certain, than he knew. He was idolized by Max. I will be forever grateful that Max had as fine a young man to look up to.
His sudden passing has left me, my family and my community shocked and saddened. After all he had overcome it is hard to accept God’s plan in cases like this. Looking at all the lives he touched in his short time on Earth and the inspiration he gave those he knew or knew of him leaves no room for doubt that his was a purposeful life, however; a life to be rewarded.
Please pray for his parents, family, friends and innumerable others grieving his loss — and a heavenly lake filled with fish with his name on them.
