BB Sasore, the talented director behind Banana Island Ghost, is back with a complex trailer for his follow-up project, God Calling.

If you can recall, Banana Island Ghost featured themes of the afterlife, redemption and even a little bit of romance. Well, God Calling is following in those steps and even contains easter eggs from the previous movie. In the complex trailer, Zainab Balogun, a wife and mother in a seemingly perfect family, battles with drug addiction.

However, there is no connection between the shots which pan from her jumping off a bridge to receiving a call from God via her smashed iPhone. Nevertheless, this film is definitely in the same universe as Banana Island Ghost, as the trailer hints at Zainab’s character surviving the tragic accident from the previous film. The BB Sasore-directed film explores themes of infidelity, mental health, spirituality, death and unhappiness.

Despite the confusing trailer, Zainab Balogun manages to captivate us with her performance as the lead actress. The film stars Nollywood heavyweights like Richard Mofe-Damijo in addition to Nkem Owoh and Onyeka Onwenu who play the distraught parents of Zainab’s cheating husband.

Given how much we enjoyed Banana Island Ghost, we won’t be surprised if God Calling turns out to be as equally thrilling. While we anticipate the film’s release on December 21, watch the trailer in the meantime.
