Zander was jogging in the bicycle lane Wednesday morning May 22 just south of Mickler’s Landing in Ponte Vedra Beach when he was hit by a truck just before 6 a.m.

Why the truck, driven by a 53-year-old Jacksonville Beach resident, drifted into the bicycle lane before striking Laurin is unclear. The driver was not injured.

He stayed on scene, was cooperative with the investigation as the Ponte Vedra High School student was taken to UF Health Jacksonville hospital via helicopter with life-threatening injuries, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Smile, Touch, Hold, Caress, Kiss, Cuddle, Rock, & Hug your child everyday. Let them forever feel your love.

  • From Sharon Mills:

Please pray with me for my dear friends of 25 years who lost their only son Zander Laurin – 16 yesterday.

Zander was the young man who was hit by a truck while jogging in PV. I have known him his entire life.

When I heard the news the shock just over took me and I never recall in my entire life sobbing so hard.

Death is never easy but his youth, memory of that beautiful smile, his parents only child, tragic loss, watching him grow into a young man, brightness of future, finding out it was someone I knew well, love both his parents dearly, just put them in a beautiful new home 6 months ago and the brightness of his future.

It all just overwhelmed my heart. If I could feel such devastation I can’t even imagine what my friend Eric, Anna and their families are experiencing.

Please pray for strength and peace for all during this time😥🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽. Zan-Man so many people love you. Eric and Anna ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️God Bless You❤️❤️❤️

I wanted to say a few things. First to all of you out there that have your children graduating from pre-school all the way to college, congratulations to them all and as parents you all should be so proud. I swear I read all of the posts, it is scary how time flies. I remember a lot of these young adults as children, bitter sweet.

Second thank for the kind words for my son Will, and for all the prayers and thought for Zander Laurin, his family and friends.

Last, Zander a young man who was part U.S. Naval Cadet was training and prepping for his entry test for the armed forces, Zander even in his untimely death will STILL BE A HERO, he was signed up to be an organ donor.
