Cor Nortje se afsterwe: Cor Nortje death, obituary
Hartseer nuus vanmiddag ontvang: Cor Nortje (81) is vandag oorlede.
Vanoggend voor dagbreek sing die Engelse tiptol reg by my venster sodat ek elke woord duidelik kan hoor: “Yes, sirree, yes sirree, a quick fix is a quickie in a teepee.” Dit wat ‘n klein voëltjie soos ‘n tiptol ‘n quickie noem, moet so naby aan niks wees as wat jy kan kom.
Toe dink ek: as hy so vrolik kan sing oor so min, dan moet ek seker weer dink.
Ek maak die venster oop en skree vir die tiptol: “It is all in the mind.” En hy antwoord: “I agree, I agree.”
Beste groete.”Ons groet jou, Cor Nortje.
Cor Nortje death: Cor Nortje se afsterwe – obituary, cause of death
Received sad news this afternoon: Cor Nortje (81) passed away today. Cor was one of the big names in the broadcasting world, both as radioman and then also a trailblazer in the new glamorous world of television in the 1970 s. Cor was also writer, actor, chess kenner, and so much more.
But in his old age, Cor was especially loved as a Facebook phenomenon, a real raconteur. It was always a joy to read his colorful, gevatte and knowledgeable posts.
On 15 January this year, Cor puts the following piece:
” When you are old and der dagen tired, you learn to accept that you are standing in a rope to meet the only certainty in life. Behind your grinding a multitude and one-one they join the rope. Some pushes in front of you, but you know your turn is near, you can see the cutting edge already.
One of the many mentors in my life, late Pieter du Bruyn, told me when his father reads from the Bible ” Ik Ben but one schrede death,” he always thought a person gives such a hilarious and then Are you dead.
Yesterday, after five days of uitmergelende pain and the feeling of being poisoned by pills, I really felt I was ready for my hilarious.
This morning before dawn the English tiptol sings right at my window so I can hear every word clearly: ” Yes, sirree, yes sirree, a quick fix is a quick in a teepee.” This what a small bird like a tiptol ‘
A quickie mention, must be as close to nothing as you can come. Then I thought, if he can sing so cheerfully about so little, I must probably think again. An old uncle of whom I liked very much,’s last words, after prolonged illness, to his wife, now, was: ” I think I will go now.”
I open the window and shout at the tiptol, ” It’s all in the mind.” And he answered, ” I agree, I agree.”
I think I’ll hang out a bit now. ” ”And then, on January 27, 2020 this message:
” Dear Facebook friend.
The last episode of my sensitive / spastic colon never faded. I’m being rushed for an obstruction of my small intestine tomorrow.I didn’t expect it would run out on a surgery and wanted to inform you about it afterwards. But it looks better to tell you about it now so you can know why you haven’t heard anything from me this past week and probably another week or what won’t hear from me.
Best regards.”We greet you, Cor Nortje. It was a privilege to be able to experience and enjoy your lewenslus, humor and creativity on so many levels.”
